Like it or not the breast will sag in time or after serving its purpose; sometimes slowly, other times more quickly, particularly the larger ones. It is, after all, made of tissue mostly and less muscles so you cannot tone it by exercising like you do your biceps or abdominals. Through constant pull by gravity ---weight-the skin of the upper part will in time stretch and the breast will sag. Other reasons are pregnancy, since when the breast is full of milk the skin stretches to accommodate the growth, and rarely returns to its original size.
Breastfeeding and menopause are two more reasons breast sag.
For a sagging breast or whatever reason, the answer is a lift bra. It differs from a push up bra in that the latter simply pushes against the breast tissue to create a more pronounced cleavage, while the lift bra raises the whole breast up and forward, at the same time supporting it for comfort and shape. Thus the breast will appear more perky and upright, and therefore younger-looking in shape and appearance. The end-result is that the lift bra wearer feels more confident and feminine over-all.
However, many women and stores think of push-up bras when you mention or ask about lift bras since the two very similar in form and function.
But what consists of a good lift bra? That is actually a question individual to the woman who wants one. Every designer and manufacturer has his own idea of what a good lift bra should be or have though they agree on what it should do, but any woman instinctively knows what she must have, informed or otherwise. It actually depends on the breast needing the bra.
Some women have breasts that are rather rounder topside that may simply need a full-figure lift bra to prevent the breast from jiggling and juggling. Other women are fuller bottomside and thus may require just padding to lift the breast. Still others have side-pointing nipples so would need bras that push the breast inwards and up, while there are women whose breasts are rather small and pointy for which an altogether design may be necessary.
To further complicate matters, whatever type of lift bra is chosen, it will be worn as long as 15 or more hours a day, so if it is uncomfortable in the first few hours such discomfort will increase as the day goes on. And, of course, there is the bra to wear on special occasions such as formal gatherings or social parties. The lift bra you use at your everyday work would not be appropriate for such kind of events so you would need a different bra but of virtually the same specifics as to sizes but of different fabric and styling.
So in selecting your lift bra, be sure of several things:
1) it is comfortable to wear;
2) it gives you the necessary lift and support;
3) it is appropriate to the occasion you plan to use it in; and
4) you can afford it.
